The mission continues

Who we support

A detachment isn't a social club. It's a working unit with a sector of responsibility: the Marines, families and veterans of southwestern Wisconsin.

Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines

Madison is home to Golf Company 2/24 - the Marine reserve infantry company of the 4th Marine Division, the "Mad Ghosts." When Golf Company drills, deploys, or sends its Marines home, the Sugar River Detachment stands behind them and their families. One of our members serves as standing liaison to the company.

Toys for Tots

The Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program has delivered a message of hope to children since 1947. Our detachment collects, sorts and distributes toys across Dane, Iowa and Sauk counties every holiday season. Watch the events page for drop-off locations.

Veteran assistance

Rides to the VA. A hand with a claim. A visit when a Marine is laid up. Honor details when one is laid to rest. We aid and render assistance to all Marines and FMF sailors, uniformed and civilian, and to their widows and orphans - it's in our charter, and we mean it. If you know a veteran in our area who needs help, contact us.

Where the money goes

Every rose drive, raffle and fundraiser feeds these three missions. The detachment is an all-volunteer Wisconsin non-profit - no salaries, no overhead beyond the coffee. When you buy a rose at Woodman's, a Marine family feels it.
